StormTeam10: Nor'easter losing its punch

Rain showers tapering off after 4AM Wednesday

This powerful winter storm will move to our northeast overnight with its impact lessening on the area.

Although the chance of rain showers continues through about 4am locally, the heaviest rain has ended for the area. The wind gusts will continue to be in the 20-35mph from the north overnight right through sunrise Wednesday.

No doubt this storm packed a punch...some of the strongest wind occurred across the Rhode Island coastline. Gusts in the 60mph range late Monday night from Westerly to Charlestown to Block Island. Farther inland many of us experienced 40-50mph gusts.

Rain totals are generally in the 1.50" range although some areas of southeastern Massachusetts have picked up amounts well over 2.50", in particular Martha's Vineyard with nearly 3" of rain since Monday night. We will continue to add to these totals overnight as the showers persist.

Drier weather will take hold of the forecast Wednesday. For more on the week ahead, click here.
